Sedona

The drive back from Sedona was long and began in Phoenix, where we dropped Simon off at Patrici's house. He had packed in the hotel room the night before, sorting out photography equipment and placing it in a smaller pack. The larger pack was long and built for hiking. He would finish up the wedding photography shoot in Sedona then fly out the next day, heading for Bolivia, while the rest of us would pack the van and drive back to Missouri.

The thing about long drives, unlike airline flights, is the long expanse of time you have to just sit and look, talk or read. Stories were shared back and forth. Mother had memories of other family travels. Memories which I did not remember. And of course, the thing about long drives are the opportunities to stop, get out of the van, stretch the legs and take some pictures.
